Module 1 · AI, without the hype

Start with intent, not the tool

AI becomes useful when the work is clear.

It is tempting to begin with the newest tool and ask what it can do. A better starting point is the work itself: what are you trying to achieve, what information matters, and what standard should the result meet?

This is the habit that makes every later prompt, workflow, and system more useful. You are not handing responsibility to AI; you are deciding where it can assist while you retain judgement over the outcome.

  • Name the outcome before choosing a tool.
  • Give the AI the context it cannot infer.
  • Decide how you will check the result before you ask for it.
A simple learning diagram showing a path from intent to human judgement.
A dependable AI practice begins with intent, then adds context, review, and human judgement.
