Build capability
that holds up.
- 01
Design an AI-enabled product or automation around a real user need, rather than a model demonstration.
- 02
Connect models to tools, data, retrieval, and interfaces with appropriate boundaries and controls.
- 03
Build evaluation, observability, failure handling, and human intervention into an AI system from the beginning.
Proposed learning pathway
From understanding
to applied practice.
- 01
AI product and system design
Translate a user problem into an AI-enabled product, workflow, or automation with a clear operating boundary.
- 02
Models, tools, data, and retrieval
Work with model APIs, structured outputs, external tools, knowledge retrieval, and the data needed for useful systems.
- 03
Agents and dependable workflows
Design tool-using or multi-step systems with sensible control flow, fallbacks, and human intervention points.
- 04
Evaluation and production readiness
Test quality, manage failure modes, observe behaviour, and prepare a system for responsible real-world use.
How it will be earned
Recognition should follow real evidence.
PEI is designing every assessment-based certificate to reflect more than course attendance. Final requirements and scoring criteria will be published before this pathway opens.
- 01
Complete the technical engineering pathway.
- 02
Build and document an AI-enabled system or product prototype.
- 03
Meet a future applied standard for system design, evaluation, and responsible operation.
